New proton therapy trial aims to protect Kids' brains from radiation damage
NCT ID NCT07338526
Summary
This study compares two types of radiation therapy for children aged 6-16 with certain brain tumors. It tests whether a newer proton-based treatment causes fewer long-term side effects like memory problems or hearing loss compared to standard X-ray therapy, while still effectively controlling the tumor. Researchers will follow children for five years to see which treatment better preserves their quality of life and brain function.
