New radiation combo aims to improve cancer control with fewer side effects
NCT ID NCT06846450
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study tests whether proton radiation therapy combined with carbon ion therapy works as well as standard photon radiation plus carbon ion for people with newly diagnosed nasopharyngeal cancer. About 470 adults aged 18 to 70 with any stage except metastatic disease will be randomly assigned to one of the two radiation approaches. The main goal is to see if the proton combination is non-inferior in preventing cancer progression while possibly causing fewer side effects.
