New radiation technique aims to spare healthy brain in cancer fight

NCT ID NCT04752280

Summary

This study is testing if a newer type of radiation (proton beams) causes fewer side effects than standard radiation (photon beams) for people with glioblastoma, a serious brain cancer. About 326 adults with this cancer will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two radiation types alongside standard chemotherapy. The main goal is to see if proton radiation better protects healthy parts of the brain, leading to less severe side effects in the first few months after treatment.
