Precision radiation attack on Hard-to-Reach tumors

NCT ID NCT01659203

Summary

This study is testing whether a more targeted form of radiation (using protons or advanced photons) given before surgery can better control rare abdominal tumors called retroperitoneal sarcomas. Researchers want to find the safest, most effective dose and see if this approach reduces damage to healthy tissue compared to standard radiation. About 80 people with these specific tumors will receive the targeted radiation for six weeks, followed by surgery and long-term monitoring.
