Precision proton beams target tough esophageal tumors before surgery

NCT ID NCT02213497

Summary

This early-phase study aims to find the safest, most effective dose of proton beam radiation when given with chemotherapy before surgery for locally advanced esophageal cancer. It will enroll about 30 patients who are candidates for surgery to test this combined approach. The main goal is to see how well patients tolerate the treatment and to measure how much the tumor shrinks before it is surgically removed.
