Precision proton beams aim to save hearing in brain tumor patients

NCT ID NCT01199978

Summary

This study is testing a specialized type of radiation called proton therapy for treating a non-cancerous brain tumor called an acoustic neuroma. The goal is to see if this more targeted radiation can better preserve patients' hearing while still controlling the tumor's growth. Researchers will follow 30 participants for 5 years after treatment to measure hearing outcomes and check for side effects.
