New proton beam study aims to spare healthy tissue in kids with kidney cancer

Summary
This study tests whether a precise type of radiation called proton beam can treat Wilms tumor while causing less damage to healthy growing tissues. About 260 children with newly diagnosed Wilms tumor who need abdominal radiation will take part. The goal is to see if this approach helps the treated side of the belly grow more normally and still keeps the cancer under control.
