Sharper proton beam tested to fight anal cancer with fewer side effects

NCT ID NCT01858025

Summary

This small, early-stage study tested whether a newer, more precise form of proton radiation therapy could be practically combined with standard chemotherapy to treat anal cancer. The main goal was to see if this approach could reduce severe skin side effects compared to older radiation methods. Researchers enrolled 25 participants to assess the treatment's feasibility and its impact on side effects and quality of life.
