Protein power: could extra protein stop muscle loss in ICU patients?

NCT ID NCT06714240

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looks at whether giving critically ill patients more protein (1.3 grams per kilogram per day) helps them build muscle better than the standard amount (0.8 grams). Researchers will measure muscle growth using muscle biopsies and blood samples. The goal is to find a simple nutritional strategy to reduce muscle wasting and improve recovery in ICU patients.
