Could a protein shake help fight addiction cravings?
NCT ID NCT06459609
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether adding protein powder to the diet could help reduce cravings in people hospitalized for addiction treatment. Twenty-eight patients received protein supplements for one week and no supplements for another week, in a random order, to compare their craving levels. The goal was to see if this simple nutritional support could make the early, difficult stage of treatment easier by lessening the intense urge to use substances.
