Summary
This study looks at two surgical options for people with a serious belly infection caused by a burst diverticulitis pocket. Half the patients will get a temporary stoma (a bag on the belly to collect waste) after the infected part of the colon is removed and reconnected; the other half will not. The goal is to see which approach leads to fewer complications and better recovery over the next year.
