New MRI coil could spare men unnecessary prostate biopsies

NCT ID NCT05043012

First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a flexible MRI coil can accurately detect aggressive prostate cancers without needing a probe inside the body. About 258 men with intermediate- or high-risk prostate cancer will get an MRI before surgery. The goal is to see if this less invasive approach can reduce unnecessary biopsies and better identify cancers that need treatment.
