Fewer radiation sessions may be just as safe after prostate surgery

NCT ID NCT06409910

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether giving radiation every other day (5 sessions total) is as safe as the standard daily schedule (20 sessions) for men who have had prostate cancer surgery. The study involves 204 participants across multiple centers. The main goal is to see if the shorter schedule causes fewer bowel side effects while still controlling the cancer.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Radiotherapy (external beam radiation)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could offer a more convenient, less frequent radiotherapy option after prostate cancer surgery with fewer side effects.

What could go wrong

This is a phase II trial with only 204 participants, so results are preliminary. The new schedule may not be as effective or could cause unexpected side effects.
