New tracking tech aims to reduce radiation side effects for prostate cancer patients

NCT ID NCT03254420

Summary

This study is testing whether a newer, more precise radiation tracking system causes fewer long-term side effects in the pelvic area compared to standard radiation for prostate cancer. Men with low- or intermediate-risk prostate cancer will be randomly assigned to receive radiation using either the newer Calypso tracking system or the conventional method. The main goal is to see which technique results in fewer serious side effects like bowel or bladder problems in the years following treatment.
