MRI may replace unnecessary biopsies for prostate cancer patients

NCT ID NCT04692675

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether special MRI scans can help doctors better monitor men with low-risk prostate cancer who choose active surveillance (watching the cancer instead of treating it right away). About 500 men will get regular MRIs along with standard tests like blood work and biopsies. The goal is to see if MRI can catch cancer growth earlier and possibly reduce the need for repeated biopsies.
