Brazil tests 'Watch and Wait' approach for prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT05343936

Summary

This study is creating Brazil's first national program to monitor men with low-risk prostate cancer instead of immediately treating them. Researchers will track 490 patients in the public health system who receive regular check-ups rather than surgery or radiation. The goal is to see if this 'active surveillance' approach works safely for Brazilian men, potentially avoiding unnecessary treatments and side effects.
