New drug combo tested to delay prostate cancer progression

Summary
This study tested whether adding two drugs, abiraterone acetate and prednisone, to standard hormone therapy could better control advanced prostate cancer that had not yet spread to other body parts. It involved 131 men whose cancer was resistant to standard hormone treatment but showed no signs of spread on scans. The main goals were to see if the treatment significantly lowered a key cancer marker (PSA) and delayed the time until the cancer started growing visibly.
