First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 07, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests if propranolol, a drug often used for heart conditions, can safely treat chylothorax—a serious fluid buildup after open heart surgery—in children with congenital heart disease. About 50 children aged 7 days to 18 years will receive either propranolol or a placebo to see if the drug speeds up recovery and reduces hospital stays. The goal is to learn which patients benefit most and how to use the drug effectively.
