Heart drug trial aims to stop dangerous Post-Surgery leak in kids

NCT ID NCT06833320

Summary

This study is testing if a common heart drug called propranolol can safely and effectively treat a serious complication called chylothorax in children recovering from heart surgery. Chylothorax is a buildup of fluid in the chest that can delay recovery. Researchers will give 50 children either propranolol or a placebo for 9 days to see if the drug helps reduce the fluid drainage faster than the body would heal on its own.
