New program fights to keep girls out of dangerous child labor
NCT ID NCT04231669
Summary
This study tested a program called ANZANSI, designed to prevent vulnerable adolescent girls in Ghana from dropping out of school and migrating alone to cities for dangerous child labor. The program combined financial support for families with group sessions to improve family relationships and attitudes toward girls' education. Researchers worked with 200 girls at risk of leaving school and their caregivers to see if the program was practical and could improve school attendance, family life, and the girls' future outlook.
