New MRI technique may predict brain damage in Oxygen-Deprived newborns
NCT ID NCT04325230
First seen Jun 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tested whether a special type of brain MRI (called arterial spin labeling) can predict how well newborns with brain injury from oxygen deprivation will do at 3 months old. Researchers scanned 31 full-term babies in their first week of life. The goal was to see if this MRI could tell doctors which babies might have serious problems like cerebral palsy or death, helping guide early care.
