Brain scans in the womb may predict newborn risks
NCT ID NCT02229630
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at 82 pregnant women whose babies were growing slowly in the womb (intrauterine growth restriction). Researchers used a special brain MRI to see if differences in brain water movement could tell which babies would have serious problems after birth. The goal was to find a way to predict poor outcomes like death or need for intensive care, but this was an observational study, not a treatment.
