First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a blood marker called procalcitonin can help predict which pregnant women hospitalized for threatened premature delivery will actually give birth early. Researchers measured procalcitonin levels in 131 women and compared those who delivered before 37 weeks to those who did not. The goal was to improve prediction of preterm birth, but the study was terminated early.
