First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking bifidobacterium probiotics before and during a short trip (less than 7 days) along the Silk Road can help healthy adults maintain a balanced gut microbiome. Travel often causes digestive upset, sleep problems, and even risk of antibiotic-resistant bugs. The trial compares probiotics to a placebo, tracking gut bacteria, symptoms, sleep, anxiety, and immune markers in 75 participants.
