Gut bacteria boost may ease Post-Surgery bowel misery for rectal cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07369830
Summary
This study is testing whether placing probiotic pills directly into the intestine during a temporary stoma (ileostomy) can help patients regain better bowel control after the stoma is reversed. It involves 156 patients who have had surgery for very low rectal cancer. Researchers will compare different probiotic doses to see which best improves bowel function and quality of life, while also studying changes in gut bacteria.
