First seen Apr 22, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding a probiotic (Lactobacillus crispatus) to the antidepressant sertraline helps reduce depression symptoms in teens aged 12-18 with major depressive disorder. About 60 participants will receive either the probiotic or a placebo with their medication for 8 weeks. Researchers will compare changes in depression scores to see if the combination works better than the antidepressant alone.
