Summary

This study tested whether a capsule containing a heat-killed gut bacteria called Akkermansia could help with weight and metabolism in overweight adults. Sixty-one participants took either the probiotic or a placebo pill while following a specific diet. Researchers measured changes in weight, body fat, waist size, and cholesterol levels to see if the supplement made a difference.
