Gut bacteria tested as potential treatment for common liver condition

NCT ID NCT07378280

Summary

This study tested whether a specific probiotic bacteria, called L. lactis CKDB001, could improve liver health in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). 95 adults with elevated liver enzymes took either the probiotic or a placebo daily for 12 weeks. Researchers measured changes in liver function, blood sugar, cholesterol, inflammation, and gut bacteria to see if the probiotic was safe and effective.
