Summary
This study tested whether a special probiotic and prebiotic blend, taken as a medical food, could help manage symptoms in people newly diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. All 143 participants were also taking the standard medication methotrexate. Researchers compared the blend to a placebo over 16 weeks to see if it improved joint pain, swelling, and other arthritis symptoms.
