Gut bacteria pill aims to tame harsh chemo side effects
NCT ID NCT07152886
Summary
This study is testing whether a probiotic supplement called Clostridium butyricum can help reduce severe side effects, especially diarrhea, in people receiving chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery. About 240 patients who have had surgery will be randomly assigned to take either the probiotic or a placebo pill during their chemo treatment. The main goal is to see if the probiotic lowers the rate of severe diarrhea and helps patients complete their planned chemotherapy.
