Special goggles tested to rewire brain and ease severe chronic pain
NCT ID NCT07370012
Summary
This study tested whether a therapy using special prism goggles could help reduce pain and improve function in people with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a severe and often chronic pain condition that can develop after an injury like a fracture. Fifty-four patients with recent-onset CRPS were randomly assigned to receive either standard physical therapy alone or standard therapy plus the prism goggle training. Researchers measured pain levels, hand function, and quality of life to see if adding the goggle therapy provided extra benefit.
