New gum therapy combo shows promise in small trial

NCT ID NCT07437209

First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tested two different treatments for gum disease (periodontitis) in 15 adults. One group got platelet-rich fibrin (a healing concentrate from their own blood) plus the antibiotic minocycline, while the other got a standard antibiotic gel called Arestin. The goal was to see which works better at reducing gum pocket depth and attachment loss after non-surgical cleaning. Results may help dentists choose the best add-on therapy.
