Could a preemptive heart zapping save lives after artificial heart implant?
NCT ID NCT07589738
First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026
Summary
This study looks at whether doing a preventive heart ablation (a procedure that destroys tiny areas of heart tissue causing abnormal rhythms) before implanting a left ventricular assist device (LVAD, an artificial heart pump) can reduce serious problems like dangerous heart rhythms, death, blood clots, or right heart failure within 30 days after surgery. About 90 adults with advanced heart failure who are scheduled for LVAD surgery will take part. The goal is to see if this extra step improves short-term outcomes.
