NCT ID NCT02462889
First seen Nov 15, 2025 · Last updated May 03, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study tested whether regular eye injections of a drug called aflibercept could prevent the 'wet' form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in people already at high risk. 128 participants with early signs of AMD in one eye and wet AMD in the other eye were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a sham injection. The main goal was to see if the drug could stop the high-risk eye from developing wet AMD over two years.
