Flomax before chest surgery may keep men out of catheter trouble

Summary
This study tests whether taking Flomax (tamsulosin) daily for a week before chest surgery can prevent urinary retention in men aged 50 and older. Urinary retention is a common complication that can cause discomfort, anxiety, and the need for a catheter. The medication relaxes the prostate to improve urine flow. About 127 men will participate to see if this simple step reduces the need for catheterization after surgery.
