Common prostate drug may prevent Post-Surgery urinary issues in men

NCT ID NCT03609580

Summary

This study is testing whether giving men a medication called Flomax (tamsulosin) before chest surgery can prevent a common complication where patients can't urinate afterward. Researchers are enrolling 127 men aged 50+ who are scheduled for chest surgery. The medication, which relaxes the prostate, will be taken daily starting one week before surgery to see if it reduces the need for uncomfortable catheters.
