Summary

This study tests whether screening for staph bacteria and using a 5-day decolonization routine (nasal ointment, body wash, and mouth rinse) before surgery can prevent surgical site infections. About 250 adult outpatients scheduled for surgery will be assigned to one of four different pre-surgery cleaning methods. The goal is to find the most effective and safe approach to reduce staph infections.
