Scientists test strength training to stop Runners' painful shin splints
NCT ID NCT07256808
Summary
This study tested whether a 10-week leg strengthening program could prevent painful shin splints in college track athletes. Researchers followed 26 runners during their indoor season, comparing those who did extra strength training with those who followed their regular training. The goal was to see if stronger leg muscles could reduce the common running injury known as medial tibial stress syndrome.
