Summary

This study tested a school-based educational program to help middle school students in Southeast Alaska learn how to safely harvest clams and avoid paralytic shellfish poisoning. About 50 students from three school districts took part in lessons that combined cultural practices, science, and safety tips. The goal was to see if the program changed their knowledge, behaviors, and intentions around shellfish harvesting to reduce poisoning risk.
