First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study tested whether giving the anti-seizure drug levetiracetam right after a brain bleed (hemorrhagic stroke) could prevent seizures and improve recovery. About 50 adults with a recent brain bleed were randomly assigned to receive levetiracetam or a placebo for 48 hours. The goal was to see if the drug reduced the number of seizures detected by continuous brain monitoring.
