Summary

This study tests whether a breathing exercise called cardiac coherence can help prevent chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who recently experienced a traumatic event. Researchers will enroll 44 adults with acute stress disorder and teach them the breathing technique. The goal is to see if this simple, drug-free method can stop PTSD from developing three months later.
