Study to prevent preterm birth by treating bacterial vaginosis pulled before starting

NCT ID NCT05278130

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study aimed to see if regularly testing for and treating bacterial vaginosis (a common vaginal infection) during pregnancy could lower the chance of preterm delivery in women who had a prior early birth or a short cervix. Participants would have been randomly assigned to frequent screening or usual care. However, the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled, so no results are available.
