First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether placing the heart medication amiodarone directly into the sac around the heart during bypass or valve surgery can prevent a common complication called atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) after the operation. About 63 adults aged 20-85 having open-chest heart surgery will take part. The goal is to see if this targeted approach reduces the need for extra treatment and hospital time.
