Two common drugs face off to stop dangerous procedure complication

NCT ID NCT06252441

Summary

This study tested whether an oral antioxidant (N-Acetyl Cysteine) or a rectal anti-inflammatory drug (diclofenac) is better at preventing pancreatitis, a painful and serious complication that can occur after a common bile duct procedure called ERCP. Researchers enrolled 46 adult patients who needed the procedure and compared how often pancreatitis developed in each group. The goal was to find a safer, more effective way to protect patients from this known risk.
