First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a zinc-based spray (Gel X) to prevent oral mucositis—painful mouth sores—in 130 people receiving radiation for head and neck cancer. Participants will use either the zinc spray or a sodium bicarbonate rinse. The goal is to see if the spray reduces how many people get sores, delays when they start, and makes them less severe.
