New surgery could stop debilitating swelling for breast cancer survivors

NCT ID NCT05970107

Summary

This study is testing if a special microsurgery, called lymphaticovenous bypass (LVB), can prevent a painful and chronic side effect called lymphedema. Lymphedema is arm swelling that affects up to 40% of people after breast cancer surgery to remove lymph nodes. The trial will compare standard surgery to standard surgery plus the new bypass procedure in 400 patients to see which group develops less swelling.
