Toothbrushing battle: can better mouth care save kids in intensive care?

NCT ID NCT07287566

Summary

This study tested if a special mouth cleaning routine could prevent dangerous lung infections in children on breathing machines in the intensive care unit. Researchers compared regular mouth cleaning to a more thorough method that included toothbrushing with an antiseptic mouthwash. They wanted to see if the better cleaning reduced infections, shortened time on the breathing machine, and improved recovery for 118 critically ill children.
