First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tested a more intensive program to help retired FDNY firefighters quit smoking. 23 participants were randomly assigned to either standard care or an enhanced program that included automatic enrollment, personalized counseling based on lung tests, and medication starting before their quit date. The goal was to see if the enhanced approach led to more people joining the program and successfully quitting.
