Summary
This study is testing a procedure called gastric preconditioning to see if it can reduce dangerous leaks after surgery to remove esophageal cancer. It is for patients who are at high risk for these leaks due to their health history or the type of surgery needed. The procedure involves blocking some blood vessels to the stomach before the main cancer surgery, with the goal of making the stomach tissue stronger and less likely to leak.
