Summary
This study tested a new, step-by-step care plan designed to prevent skin injuries caused by the medical tape used to secure IV lines in children. The research involved 91 children recovering from heart surgery in an intensive care unit. It compared the new care plan to standard care to see if it reduced how often and how quickly these painful skin injuries occurred.
